Master Phillip Redmond
Master Phillip Redmond’s martial arts career started after his first of two tours in Vietnam.
After his first tour he was stationed in Okinawa. While there he had the opportunity to study with Eizo Shimabukuru in Shorin-Ryu (Okinawan karate).
After moving to NYC in 1970 Master Redmond started training in Fu Jow Pai (Tiger Claw) under Grandmaster Wai Hong and later started learning Wing Chun. He has studied from 8 different Wing Chun Sifus (teachers). Four of his Sifus were direct students of the late Grandmaster Yip Man and two of them were from lineages outside of Yip Man’s.
His teachers were, Sifu Chung Kwok Chow, Sifu Moy Yat, Sifu Lee Moy Shan, Sifu Duncan Leung, Sifu Alan Lamb, Sifu Ken Yue, (Yuen Kay Shan Wing Chun) and Sifu Henry Leung (Buddha Hand Wing Chun). He became a student of Grandmaster William Cheung in 1983.
