Wing Chun Instructor Course
Are you interested in becoming an Instructor in Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu?
This 3-year course consists of:
- Minimum of 4 classes per week
- Two private lessons per month
- Assist with teaching one adult class and one children’s class per month (Working with Children check required)
- Course runs concurrently with public school terms
Pre-requisites:
The course is suitable for both beginners with no martial arts experience, and intermediate / advanced martial artists.
Outcome:
It is possible to achieve Instructor Level 10 in 3 years, however this will vary according to individual fitness, balance and co-ordination, as well as natural aptitude and individual input.
Instructor Level 10 is achieved after successfully completing the Grading at the end of the third year.

Course Outline
Year 1 (Level 1 – Level 4/5):
– All footwork and stances.
– Straight punches (vertical), straight kicks and round kicks.
– Siu Lim Tao form.
– Techniques: Pak Sao, Larp Sao, Bil Sao, Bon Sao, Chun Sao, Jut Sao, Garn Sao, Huen Sao, Huen Guek.
– Chi Sao; parallel arm, cross arm, double arm (rotation and techniques).
– First two sections of the Wooden Dummy form.
Year 2 (Level 4/5 – Level 7/8):
– Become confident in defending against; jab, hook, jab > cross, double hook, jab > hook, front/push kick, roundhouse kick, single arm (cross and parallel) grab, double arm grab, headlock.
– Chum Kil form.
– Beginning Bil Jee form.
– Wooden Dummy up to section 6.
– Elbows, knees, oblique kicks.
– Chi Sao random (parallel, cross and double arm).
– Sparring.
Year 3 (Level 7/8 – Level 10):
– Bil Jee form and technique applications.
– Wooden dummy form and technique applications.
– Butterfly Swords form and technique applications.
– Chi Sao.
– Sparring.
Cost
Year 1 – $5,350
Pay in full $4,815 (10% discount); or
Pay initial deposit of $2,600 for the first month, then $250 per month for remaining 11 months.
Apply for a Working with Children check.
Receive:
- Minimum of 4 lessons per week, with access to all classes
- Undertake First Aid course
- “Complete Wing Chun” book by Grandmaster William Cheung
- 2 x private lessons per month
- Assist with at least 1 adult and 1 children’s class per month
- 2 x sets of kung fu uniforms
- 2 x seminars
- Kung Fu backpack
- Sparring set including 12oz boxing gloves, shin and instep protectors, mouthguard and groin guard
Outcome – Test for Level 5 Grading (Sihing)

Year 2 – $5,200
Pay in full $4,680 (10% discount); or
Pay initial deposit of $2,450 for the first month, then $250 per month for remaining 11 months.
Receive:
- Minimum of 4 lessons per week, with access to all classes
- 2 x private lessons per month
- Assist with at least 1 adult and 1 children’s class per month
- 2 x seminars
- Wing Chun Iron Palm 100 day training course
Outcome – Test for Level 7 Grading (Assistant Instructor)

Year 3 – $4,680
Pay in full $4,212 (10% discount); or
Pay initial deposit of $2,260 for the first month, then $220 per month for remaining 11 months.

- 2 x seminars
Outcome – Test for Level 10 Grading (Instructor)

Gradings are held on a Sunday at 1:00pm.
Grading fee is due no later than the Thursday prior to Grading.
A certificate and next level coloured sash will be presented upon the successful completion of each Grading.

Terms and Conditions:
The Wing Chun Instructor Course is a 3 year course.
Each year a separate and non-refundable agreement must be undertaken.
The outcome of each year is dependent upon the participant attending the required number of classes and putting in the required effort to successfully complete the Grading.
Participants must apply for and receive a Working with Children certificate.
Participants must take a minimum of 4 Wing Chun classes per week.
Participants must assist in teaching at least one children’s class and one adult class per month.
Two private lessons per calendar month are available to the participant. These must be booked in advance with the instructor, and cannot accumulate if not taken within the month.
Participants must undertake the First Aid course through Cheung’s Martial Arts Academy.
Grading fees are not included in the cost and must be paid separately in advance of each Grading.
